Laser eye surgery is not the same for every person: every eye and every visual defect has its own treatment methods in refractive surgery. In our laser eye clinics in Vienna, Linz and Graz, we generally only make use of the most modern and painless methods. Basically, we distinguish between surgery without an incision (LASEK / PRK) and with an incision (LASIK / Femto-LASIK).
During laser eye surgery without an incision, the uppermost corneal layer (epithelium) is removed and the surface of the cornea is thus changed. During laser eye surgery with an incision, an approximately 0.1 mm thick lid of the uppermost part of the cornea is created (the flap) – either with a knife (LASIK) or a laser (Femto-LASIK) – and carefully opened. The cornea below this is corrected with a laser, and the corneal flap is closed again thereafter.
Finally, there is also the possibility of lens implantation: either artificial lenses over your own lenses (Phakic lenses), or your natural lens is replaced by an artificial lens (lens replacement). What all the methods have in common, is that they are fast, safe and painless!
Following a detailed preliminary examination, we will determine which treatment is most appropriate in order to correct your visual defect. At EyeLaser in Vienna, Linz and Graz, short-sightedness, long-sightedness, astigmatism, presbyopia and cataracts can be corrected to give you a new feeling of life without glasses or contact lenses.
